Dark Evenings

Day light savings time has come and gone, so now when I get home from work in the evening at 5pm, darkness has set in. So this past friday, to celebrate my last evening of daylight I went for a short paddle around the pond behind my house. Now I'm left to paddling on the weekends, and given the Newfoundland weather, those will probably be few and far between until spring, especially given my limited skill set.

I think a big part of "skill" doesn't have much to do with the kayak or paddle. The best paddler sometimes get themselves into trouble by the exercise of poor judgement. The physical paddling skills can be worked on. You're lucky to have a pond so close by.

I agree, judgment has a lot to do with it. I'd love to have the skill to back it up tho :-)

Its great to live next to a pond, but I'd trade it for the big blue ocean any day. With the real estate boom here now, ocean property really costs a fortune.
